How to Keep Your Water Reclaim Systems Running Right, For Longer
Your wash bay and wash water treatment systems are built to handle the toughest muck out there, but without proper maintenance and regular care, your problems will become nastier than the wastewater. At Evans Equipment, our mission is simple: help you get your job done and decrease your liability exposure with effective closed-loop water recycling systems. That’s why we offer a Scheduled Maintenance Program designed to monitor performance and catch small issues before they turn into major downtime. Let’s get into what you can expect on a technician visit and some popular questions about our maintenance program for industrial water recycling solutions.
What Does the Scheduled Maintenance Program Include?
Every scheduled visit follows a proven checklist designed for your specific system. Our techs don’t just stop by with a cursory poke around, they have a detailed list to inspect, test, and clean to ensure that any issues remain minor repairs rather than necessitating the need to shut down an operation for an extensive overhaul.
A scheduled maintenance visit always begins with a greeting from your Evans technician. We don’t start the maintenance check until we’ve spoken with a manager or a site operator. That sounds basic, but every system is different. So much can change depending on the job and location and crew. So, we always start with a conversation to review any news, concerns, or updates. Then, a typical visit will include:
- Checking pumps, motors, belts, valves, and electrical components
- Testing water for pH, nutrient levels, oxygen saturation, and overall quality
- Cleaning filters, strainers, and tanks
- Refilling chemicals or microbes when needed
- Taking photos and filling out maintenance sheets for your records
- Training operators on proper system use
This is the baseline to keep your commercial water recycling systems running efficiently, prolong its life, and avoid costly downtime.
Are Consumables Included?
Nope. Consumables like filters, coagulants, or microbes are extra unless your agreement states otherwise. If a bigger repair is needed, we quote it before touching anything, so you always know what to expect.
How Long Does a Service Visit Take?
It always depends on your system. When we perform quarterly scheduled maintenance checks along our nationwide route, our goal is to identify and address any issues and make sure everything in your water reclaim system is working properly. A service visit might take 2 hours if we’re handling a pressure washer with a wash bay, and it could take around 4 hours for a full water treatment system. Our techs work methodically to get it done right without wasting your time.
Who Performs Scheduled Maintenance?
- Monthly
- Bi-Monthly
- Quarterly
Whether you have a monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly scheduled maintenance agreement, all of the work performed is done by Evans-trained technicians who know the gear inside and out. We rotate techs on routes, so you may see a new friendly face. However, every technician follows the same checklist to ensure every system gets the attention it needs.
Who Handles Daily and Weekly Operator Maintenance?
You do. This is really important. Even with scheduled maintenance visits, your operators must perform daily and weekly maintenance to keep everything running smoothly in the system and equipment. Our technicians can provide insight and recommendations and training to enhance this upkeep between maintenance visits.
Daily:
- Walk the system to look for leaks or wear
- Check water levels and control panels
- Inspect electrical functions
- Remove solids from trench drains
Weekly:
- Clean Y-strainers
- Open drain valves to flush settled solids
- Refill microbes and coagulants
- Inspect cartridge filters, replacing when necessary
- Test water quality
What Happens If Issues Are Found During a Visit?
If it’s a small fix, our techs handle it on the spot. Bigger repairs or part replacements are quoted first and scheduled quickly, so your downtime is minimized. Most of the time, we have the equipment and spare parts with our technician vehicles, so barring extraordinary circumstances – we get you taken care of right away.
If we’re not on site and you experience an issue that requires emergency repair, just give us a call. For most problems, we can walk you through troubleshooting over the phone or dispatch a tech for urgent issues. Regular maintenance helps catch issues early, so these emergencies don’t sneak up on you.
How Maintenance Works for Rental Units
It depends. If you’re renting equipment, whether it’s a portable wash pad or a pressure washer, we handle scheduled maintenance according to your agreement. We may supply chemicals or consumables, but daily and weekly upkeep is on the customer, just like checking oil in a rental truck. That way, the gear stays in top shape throughout the rental.
Unlike many other companies, we maintain our rental fleet, so breakdowns are not typical. However, if a repair or replacement is needed, we coordinate with our technicians on the national maintenance route to solve the problem as quickly as possible.
What Documentation Do You Get?
Our technicians document every visit. Photos, maintenance sheets, and a description of work done are uploaded to our secure drive. Upon request, you can access these anytime for:
- Compliance audits
- City inspections
- Internal tracking
This helps make sure your system meets EPA regulations, local ordinances, and industry standards, keeping you compliant and avoiding costly fines.
Can the Maintenance Plan Be Customized?
Absolutely. We work with you to figure out:
- How often you need service – quarterly is standard nationwide, but locally we can do monthly or bi-monthly if needed
- Scope of work based on your system
- Any site-specific concerns
Evans maintenance technicians cover the whole country while keeping a hands-on local presence. Regional service centers mean quick response times for urgent needs, while our national network ensures consistent service no matter where you are.
No matter what plan you choose, the benefits are straightforward:
- Keep operations tight without unplanned downtime
- Avoid expensive repairs by catching issues early
- Make audits and inspections stress-free with thorough documentation
- Train your operators right so they know how to handle the system
